How accurate is it?
Every circuit and breaker box is likely to be different. That's why with our adjustable sensitivity dial you can manually adjust the frequency for every job you do. This allows for 100% accuracy every time.
How easy is it to use?
Our dead-circuit tracer was designed with ease in mind and can be used by just about anyone. All you have to do is clip the alligator clips of the transmitter onto the wires of the item you are trying to find the breaker for (for e.g an outlet) then head over to the breaker box and scan each breaker with the receiver until it tells you which one is the correct one. You can then switch the correct breaker off!
What circuits is it compatible with?
Our dead-circuit tracer was designed with UK circuits and buildings in mind and will work on any standard UK circuit.
What voltage range does it work with?
Our dead-circuit tracer is powered by its own 9x batteries and sends a unique signal through the circuit. For the best results you want no voltage going through the circuit you are trying to trace to avoid any interference.
Can I use it to test lightbulbs or hardwired items?
Yes, because the transmitter uses alligator clips you can essentially clip them onto anything you want and trace the right breaker powering that item!
How should I adjust the sensitivity?
Our dead-circuit tracer comes with a unique and very important feature, a frequency adjuster which lets you get the best accuracy on every breaker box/circuit.
To make the most of it:
1. Start at high sensitivity and go through each breaker once.
2. If multiple breaker switches get beeps, slowly decrease the sensitivity and go through each breaker again.
3. You will reach a perfect sensitivity where only ONE breaker gets beeped on. This means that you are on the right sensitivity and this is the breaker that you are looking for.
Does the power have to be on for it to work?
No, in fact you want the power to be off for the best accuracy!
Is the switch made so it won't turn on accidentally in a tool box?
Yes, the power switch was designed to be very hard to accidentally turn on so the batteries wont suddenly be dead.
